Mary Caroline Ward was born ca. 1835. She was a Mount Holyoke Female Seminary non-graduate of the class of 1855. Her sister Emily Ward, also attended Mount Holyoke (x-Class of 1856). After leaving the Seminary, Ward taught in Elizabeth, New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also did editorial work. From the guide to the Ward Papers.
